The relationships that bind the knitting community are many. While we share a common craft, in some ways we are so different. A farmer may not care about what's coming down the runway this fall. A designer may never want to get her shoes muddy. Yet between the ends of the hand-knitting spectrum, one trade blends into another until a perfect chain of passion is formed.
Through this passion are shared values which form a stronger bond than any personal divide. At the heart of the knitting world are people who care about fair trade. We respect the work that goes into wearing our hand-knit sweater. We understand the hours and hours that knitters invest. We appreciate the efforts it takes to bring a yarn from farm into the hands of knitters.
We are the antithesis of fast-fashion, laboriously creating a fabric stitch by stitch. We care about our fiber animals' wellbeing. We pay attention to how plant-based fibers are grown. Our knitting reflects our dedication to the craft and the years we've taken to acquire our skills.
We are artisans and each of us play a roll. We are all in this together - farmers, mills, spinners, dyers, retailers, designers and knitters who create wearable works of art.
Are you an artisan who creates wearable works of art? What is your passion?
